Overview

F/V THERESA MARIE93.3' Steel Cannery Tender -- Petersburg, Alaska New Price: $940,000

At $940,000, F/V THERESA MARIE represents an unusually strong value for a fully developed Alaska cannery tender with substantial fish capacity, commercial deck machinery, RSW refrigeration, nearly 32,000 gallons of fuel capacity, and a proven heavy-steel platform.

This is not a lightly converted recreational vessel or an unfinished commercial project. THERESA MARIE is a purpose-built working vessel based on a Bering Sea king crab harvest design and subsequently configured for high-volume tender operations.

Built by Marine Power & Equipment in Seattle, she measures 93.3 feet overall with a 30.8-foot beam. Duwamish Shipyard added eight feet of sponsons and lengthened the vessel ten feet aft of the rudder in 1991, creating a wide, stable working platform with serious carrying capacity.

The vessel is equipped with two polyurea-coated fish holds and an IMS 50-ton, self-contained RSW system. Reported salmon capacity is approximately 230,000 pounds, supported by a Trans Vac fish pump, aluminum de-watering box, sorting table, money fish boxes, weight box, and dual six-inch circulating pumps.

A Detroit Diesel 16V-149, rated at 940 HP, provides main propulsion through a Twin Disc MG 5301 transmission with 6:1 reduction, a six-inch shaft, and a 78-inch four-blade stainless-steel propeller. The indicated engine meter shows approximately 8,661 hours, reportedly since new in 2001.

Electrical capacity is equally substantial. The vessel carries a Detroit Diesel Series 50, 200 kW generator along with a Detroit Diesel 4-71 auxiliary generator. Both are keel cooled and configured to support the vessel's refrigeration, hydraulics, fish-handling equipment, accommodations, and commercial electrical loads.

Commercial Capability

THERESA MARIE is equipped for serious Alaska tender work:

  • Reported 230,000-pound salmon pack
  • IMS 50-ton RSW refrigeration system
  • Two polyurea-coated fish holds
  • Trans Vac fish pump with 40 HP electric motor
  • Aluminum de-watering box
  • Aluminum sorting table and weight box
  • Dual six-inch RSW circulating pumps
  • Nearly 32,000 gallons of diesel capacity
  • Approximately 3,497 gallons of fresh water
  • Multiple integral oil, waste-oil, and hydraulic tanks
  • Steel crab davit and Yaquina Boat line hauler
  • Dual Ingersoll Rand service-air compressors

Deck Machinery

The working deck is laid out around heavy commercial equipment rather than recreational use.

A custom 30-foot North American hydraulic knuckle-boom crane is mounted to port and fitted with a Rotzler #3 winch carrying approximately 100 feet of half-inch galvanized wire. The crane can be operated from the main deck or the starboard side of the 01 deck.

The starboard picking boom is constructed from six-inch Schedule 80 pipe and uses a Rotzler #2 winch with approximately 120 feet of half-inch Spectra line.

Additional equipment includes:

  • Nordic hydraulic anchor winch
  • Horizontal capstan and manual brake
  • Dual Vickers triple-cartridge hydraulic pumps
  • 75 HP and 100 HP electric hydraulic drive motors
  • Steel davit and crab-hauling equipment
  • Stainless-steel hauling-area pot guard
  • Twenty freeing ports
  • Heavy steel bulwarks and hull guards
  • Planked working areas surrounding the main hatches

Construction

THERESA MARIE has an all-welded mild-steel hull and superstructure with an aluminum top house.

Her hull form incorporates a V-entry, raked stem, moderate flare, pronounced sheer, single hard chine, and squared stern. The vessel is divided by six transverse watertight bulkheads extending to the main deck.

Reported construction includes:

  • 3/8-inch steel hull-side and bottom plating
  • 1/4-inch steel deck plating
  • Deep transverse framing on 48-inch centers
  • Longitudinal framing on 20-inch centers
  • Ten-inch by one-inch keel shoe
  • Six-inch half-pipe sheer guards
  • Seven 24-inch cast-steel cleats
  • Heavy ring chocks and commercial bulwark construction

This is a substantial steel platform built for hard use, heavy loads, and Alaska operating conditions.

Propulsion and Machinery

  • Detroit Diesel 16V-149 main engine
  • 940 HP
  • Approximately 8,661 indicated hours
  • Mathers Micro-Commander controls

Generator equipment includes:

  • Detroit Diesel Series 50 -- 200 kW
  • Detroit Diesel 4-71 auxiliary generator
  • Structural keel cooling
  • Dry, insulated exhaust systems
  • Dedicated 8D starting batteries

A Serious Commercial Vessel at an Aggressive Price

A vessel with this combination of steel construction, fish capacity, RSW refrigeration, fuel capacity, generating power, hydraulic machinery, crew accommodations, and Alaska operating history is difficult to duplicate.

The new asking price of $940,000 makes THERESA MARIE a compelling opportunity for an established operator, processor, fishing group, tender operator, or commercial buyer looking for a capable platform without starting a multi-year construction project.
