Sell Your Yacht at Boat Shows

NGY · Sellers · Boat Shows

Leverage the world’s boat shows to sell your yacht.

For yachts from 30 to 150 feet, the major shows are strategic sale windows — concentrated marketplaces where serious buyers, brokers and decision-makers gather in one place. We help you use them well.

Could a boat show sell your yacht?

More than an exhibition — a concentrated marketplace.

In the 30–150′ segment, a major boat show compresses months of brokerage activity into a few intense days — if the yacht is right and the strategy is right.

Serious buyers, brokers and decision-makers gather in one place, ready to see, compare and act. For production and semi-custom yachts especially, nothing replaces stepping aboard: buyers decide with their eyes and their feet on the deck.

Next Generation Yachting takes a selective approach — the right shows, targeted and discreet marketing, and an on-the-ground team that knows how to turn interest into structured offers. Not every yacht belongs at every show, and part of our job is knowing which ones do. Explore our broader approach in the Sell Your Yacht service and Seller’s Guide.

Why boat shows matter for serious sellers

Months of activity, compressed into days.

Used well, a show creates a selling opportunity that ordinary listing activity rarely matches — but only under the right conditions.

Concentrated, qualified buyers

A show gathers ready buyers, brokers and central agents into a single window — the density that turns viewings into offers.

Physical presence sells

In the production and semi-custom segment, buyers fall for a yacht in person — comparing layout, finish and feel against direct competitors on the dock.

Momentum & media

Show excitement, coverage and broker concentration create a moment — provided the yacht is well presented, correctly priced and discreetly marketed.

This only works when three things line up: the yacht is presented and priced against its true competitors, marketing is targeted rather than broadcast, and the team on the ground knows how to qualify and follow up in this specific size range. Get those right and a show becomes a genuine accelerant.

Where we show 30–150′ yachts

Next Generation Yachting’s preferred boat shows.

Each show reaches a distinct buyer pool. We match your yacht to the event — and the season — where it will perform.

Palm Beach International Boat Show

Spring · typically March Palm Beach, Florida

Increasingly a benchmark US show for 30–150′ yachts, often compared to Monaco for the calibre of its audience. It draws US-based HNWIs, international buyers with US interests, and one of the strongest local wealth bases in the world.

For sellers of production and semi-custom yachts and catamarans targeting the US and Caribbean market, Palm Beach concentrates qualified, ready buyers into a few decisive days. Larger yachts in the NGY Superyachts pipeline also benefit from the buyer density during the show period.

Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show (FLIBS)

Late fall · late October / early November Fort Lauderdale, Florida

One of the largest in-water shows in the world and a pivotal event for the US and Caribbean buyer pool. Its audience is broad but rich in serious 30–150′ buyers, professional brokers and operators.

FLIBS is where a well-presented production or semi-custom yacht meets the widest US and Caribbean audience of the year, including charter-minded buyers. It is also a key meeting point for NGY Superyachts on larger, more complex transactions.

Miami Yacht Show & Winter Events

Early in the year · February Miami, Florida

The entry point to the US market and the Caribbean season, with exceptional broker and owner density. The audience skews to US-based buyers, Caribbean operators and international investors seeking US-based yachts.

For 30–150′ yachts, Miami sets up a winter-into-spring sale and charter strategy. Miami’s superyacht events complement the main show for larger assets, in coordination with NGY Superyachts.

Cannes Yachting Festival

September Cannes, France

The major European season-opener, and one of the strongest shows anywhere for 30–150′ production and semi-custom yachts. The audience mixes private buyers, charter converts and European investors.

Cannes complements Monaco in the Mediterranean season and extends NGY’s reach to European clients — a natural platform for yachts positioned for the Med market.

Monaco Yacht Show

Late September Port Hercule, Monaco

One of the premier superyacht shows in the world and a global benchmark for luxury. Its audience is UHNWIs, family offices, top brokers and serious buyers from Europe, the Middle East and beyond.

On this page the focus is how Monaco drives demand and visibility for high-spec 30–150′ yachts that share the same buyer pool. Where the profile fits, NGY Superyachts leverages Monaco for larger, more complex yachts.

US shows for non-US yachts

Navigating US regulations: FTZ and boat show bonds.

A foreign-flagged yacht can usually be exhibited at a US show without full importation — but only when the customs mechanics are handled correctly.

Bringing a non-US yacht into US waters for a show involves customs and regulatory considerations. Foreign Trade Zones (FTZ) and boat show bonds allow a temporary, compliant presence for exhibition without triggering full importation and immediate duty.

These mechanisms are technical, and getting them wrong can create issues with Customs and Border Protection and potential import liability. We work with experienced show agents and customs specialists to structure this correctly — and we strongly advise owners not to self-manage it.

This is general information, not legal advice.

Targeted marketing around every show

Before, during, and after — nothing left to chance.

A structured campaign that builds private demand, works the dock, and converts momentum into offers.

01 · Before the show

Before the show

We identify and pre-qualify buyers for your specific yacht type and size, share curated briefs with our network of brokers, family offices and referral partners, and run targeted digital campaigns and direct outreach to book private appointments. No mass blasting, no public price wars — discretion throughout.

02 · During the show

During the show

We run a structured schedule of appointments for serious buyers and brokers, coordinate dockwalks, onboard viewings and technical discussions with the captain and crew, and capture feedback in real time — adjusting positioning where the market tells us to.

03 · After the show

After the show

We follow up systematically with every qualified lead and give you a concise show report: interest level, common feedback, price perception and next steps — turning momentum into inspections, negotiations, or a considered repositioning if that is what the signal calls for.

On-the-ground representation

A team that knows the room — and the dock.

Next Generation Yachting keeps a dedicated team at the key shows — Palm Beach, Fort Lauderdale, Miami, Cannes and Monaco.

For sellers, our agents are a single point of contact: scheduling and managing viewings, coordinating with brokers and central agents, and handling sensitive discussions with discretion, so your yacht is represented properly whether or not you attend.

For buyers — which benefits sellers by ensuring well-guided, serious prospects — we plan ahead against real criteria, pre-select yachts that genuinely fit in the 30–150′ segment, accompany private viewings and dockwalks with objective comparison, and narrow to one or two candidates before structuring survey and negotiation. For larger superyachts, NGY Superyachts provides additional specialised support at shows such as Monaco, Cannes and Fort Lauderdale.

Answers

Selling at boat shows — common questions

For US and Caribbean buyers, Palm Beach, Fort Lauderdale (FLIBS) and Miami are the strongest platforms for 40–80′ yachts; for European buyers, Cannes leads, with Monaco reaching the same buyer pool for high-spec examples. The right choice depends on your yacht’s market, location and timeline — which is exactly what we help you weigh.

No. Your yacht is represented by our on-the-ground team, who manage viewings, dockwalks and buyer discussions on your behalf. Many owners prefer to stay at arm’s length while we handle the room and the dock discreetly.

Presentation, pricing and positioning decide the outcome. We advise on condition and detailing, professional photography and documentation, and a price set against the yacht’s direct competitors — so she stands out to buyers comparing several yachts side by side.

Yes, in most cases. Foreign-flagged yachts can be exhibited at US shows using mechanisms such as Foreign Trade Zones (FTZ) and boat show bonds, which permit a temporary, compliant presence without full importation. These are technical and must be handled correctly with experienced agents and customs specialists.

A boat show bond is a customs instrument that allows a foreign yacht to be displayed for sale at a US show for a defined period without formal entry or immediate duty. It is typically required when a non-US yacht attends a US show while remaining unsold and un-imported. We coordinate this through specialists rather than leaving owners to self-manage it.

We pre-qualify prospects before the show against the specific yacht — budget, timeline and genuine intent — and filter the crowd during it, so your time and the captain’s time go to serious buyers. The goal is structured offers, not foot traffic.

A strong show can produce offers within days, though many sales close in the weeks that follow as inspections and negotiations run their course. Where a correctly priced yacht meets the right audience, a show meaningfully compresses the timeline.

It depends on the yacht, the market and your objectives — and sometimes the right advice is to sell privately or wait rather than show. We assess whether a show genuinely improves your outcome before recommending one, which is part of working with a boutique team rather than a listing machine.

How we work

A selective, white-glove approach to boat show sales.

We’re selective about which yachts we promote at shows, with our primary focus on 30–150′ production and semi-custom yachts and catamarans. A show only earns its place when it genuinely improves your outcome.

Our strategy is tailored — and honest. Sometimes the right advice is not to show at all, but to sell privately or wait for a stronger window. We’d rather tell you that than fill a slip.

We combine market data, technical understanding and real transaction experience to time show participation correctly, and every conversation is confidential and shaped around your objectives. Where a larger, more complex yacht is involved, NGY Superyachts steps in with specialised support.

Turn momentum into a sale

Turn show momentum into a strategic sale.

The major shows create a rare opportunity for serious sellers in the 30–150′ segment — concentrated demand, in one place, at one time. Used well, with a boutique team that knows how to leverage them, that moment becomes a sale at the right price.
