Overview

This is a truly unique offering. This Kadey Krogen 48, 'Dyer Need' is hull number 2 and is a rare Kadey Krogen offering twin engines! She has graceful sweeping lines, a prounounced bow, and a rugged profile. You can tell from her looks that 'Dyer Need' is an offshore capable yacht.
With a substantial range, the 48 glides through the water and provides a true "at home in any sea" waterfront traveling platform just as her builder advertises. The current owners have enjoyed her for 18 years and are now offering 'Dyer Need' for sale and ready to cruise.
She has a popular widebody salon/deck arrangement which merges forward through the galley and below to a spacious two stateroom, two head arrangement layout.

On deck, she is topped with a raised pilothouse and flybridge for underway operations and enjoys good outdoor living space forward and aloft.

Quiet and comfortable underway and at rest, she is up to the challenge of exploring local and long distance cruising adventures.

Accomadations and Layout
REAR COCKPIT AND SWIM PLATFORM:You can board Dyer Need from the aft cockpit door via the fiberglass swim platform (great when arriving by dinghy). Dinghy can be tied up to stainless steel cleats. You can also board from the port and starboard side deck doors at the rear cockpit or through the breaks in the rails amidship on port and starboard sides next to the pilot house.

Dyer Need?s swim platform and cockpit also create a convenient hub for in-water sports such as diving or snorkeling. All cap rails, gunnels and lower walking surfaces are teak, and custom covers have been made for all the cap rails to prolong the life of the varnish.
From the aft cockpit you can head aft to the swim platform for a dinghy adventure, forward on the starboard side via the side deck which transits past the pilothouse and up to the foredeck where a bench set exists under a protective cover.

LAZERETTE:
There is a large opening hatch in the cockpit deck for entering the lazarette below. The lazarette houses the steering system, the Glendinning power chord retriever, the hydraulic pump for the hydraulic lift, the HRO water maker and the Isolation transformer along with shelves for cleaning supplies and extra lines and hoses.

SALON:
Two teak doors with magnetic hold opens and solid shades provide access to the stern cockpit. There is also a sliding screen door. Dyer Need benefits from her widebody salon (no walking side deck to port) so she boasts a much roomier and spacious interior than a walkaround deck edition. The salon is carpeted with an Andy Warhol design 100% wool carpet. The salon aboard Dyer Need creates a very open, airy and pleasant environment for her owners and guests. For visibility and light, there are large windows port and starboard as well as a window in the aft bulkhead with sliding blinds that can close for privacy, open for half light or retracted for total view.

To starboard is an L-shaped settee cover in light tan Ultrasuede fabric with storage underneath. There is a high-low retractable teak table that folds out into a large dining surface that will seat eight for meals. Forward of the settee is a wall mounted Samsung TV and a cabinet for entertainment equipment.

To the port there is a straight settee with additional storage under, behind and beneath the seating. Forward of the port settee is a pantry cabinet with Cambria granite composite countertop and a liquor storage cabinet on the back side and shelving above. Forward of this countertop cabinet is a cabinet with the Splendide washer/dryer and the wine cooler above.

GALLEY:
The galley is forward of the salon on the starboard side. It includes abundant food preparation space atop the Cambria composite counter tops and there are multiple lockers and drawers for provisions, cookware, utensils, etc. Dyer Need has an impressive complement of appliances including a large Samsung 30 cubic foot refrigerator/freezer with two ice makers (one in the refrigerator and one in the freezer), a Sharp microwave-in-a drawer, Wolf 2-burner induction cooktop, Keurig coffee maker, Breville toaster oven and stainless-steel sink with spray head faucet.

Moving forward from the galley, you can go up to the pilothouse passing breaker panels and power controls for underway operations and access to the forward decks, or down a short flight of steps to the lower living quarters which is comprised of two staterooms and two full heads.

STARBOARD GUEST STATEROOM:
The guest stateroom is positioned to the starboard on the accommodations level. There is a fold out queen size bed from an L-shaped settee with storage drawers below and a dropdown bunk bed above. There is a desk with chair and hanging locker with a storage cabinet in rear of the locker. Beside the locker are multiple drawers.

GUEST HEAD:
The guest head is across the hall to port from the guest stateroom. With independent door access, it is available for passengers aboard. The single basin sink is below a large mirror. The toilet is a fresh water Vacuflush. The stand-up shower has a bi-fold door and a built-in seat. The guest head also contains storage for linens.

OWNER STATEROOM:
The owner stateroom is forward and features a queen-size island berth. This room enjoys full beam accommodations and is set up for comfort and convenience. Storage throughout is impressive. There are three hanging lockers, 10 large drawers, a liftable countertop with retractable seat for makeup and very bright makeup lights, full mirror and TV for convenience. Ther are four portlights and two overhead hatches giving plenty of light and ventilation.

OWNER HEAD:
To port there is an en-suite head with sink counter, mirrored medicine cabinet above, Vacuflush freshwater toilet, standup stall shower with bi-fold door and molded seat.

PILOTHOUSE:
Forward and up from the salon/galley area is the raised pilothouse, the operations and command center of Dyer Need. She is outfitted for long distance offshore travel and is equipped with the priorities for safe and efficient piloting. The arrangement of displays and controls has been planned for quick glances and easy reach from the helm. Guests can enjoy the view behind the helm and facing forward from the large and comfortable L-shaped settee. This settee also converts to a double bed when needed. There are doors port and starboard providing easy access to the side decks. There are large windows port and starboard and two stainless steel opening ports in the aft bulkhead.

Secondary anchor is a Delta 40 lb. with a Fortress anchor in aft storage. There is a foot operated controls for the anchor raising. Shore power connection and fresh water hose connection is provide in front of forward deck seat. The deck is uncluttered with two opening hatches above the Owners stateroom. The side rails have four 12? stainless steel fender containers.

BOAT DECK:
The 11? center console Boston Whaler dinghy with a 20 hp Yamaha outboard is stored in the center position of the deck. The hydraulic 800 lb lift is on the port side to lift the dinghy off the port side of the deck. There is also a Kymco Agility 125 motor scooter with only 400 miles on it located on the port side of the deck. The deck is non-skid surface with stainless steel safety rails.

FLYBRIDGE:
The flybridge features a centerline helm chair with passenger lounge seating running along both sides with storage below. For underway operations you have easy reach access to the chart plotter, Microcommander controls, bow thruster controls and a VHS radio. This is a similar arrangement comparable to the primary helm below, providing just as much vessel control as the pilot house. The flybridge is a wonderful place to cruise underway or relax during those warm, sunny days on the water.

ENGINE ROOM:
The hatch to the port side of the galley gives access by ladder to the engine room below. It is lighted with very bright LED lights when ashore or 12 v light under way. A camera is aimed on both engines for underway observations. The John Deere engines can be serviced from both sides. Fuel filters can be serviced easily and there are hand pumps for draining oil from both engines. Under the ladder is a fuel polishing system to insure clean diesel fuel. The Northern Lights 12 kw generator is located center to the rear of the engines. Access to the Stabilizer pump is accessed to the port side of the port engine. The Inverter is a Victron that was new in the past two years. The four house 8 D batteries located on the starboard side of the starboard engine are Lifeline AGM batteries new in 2023 along with all three engine batteries.

The following items/equipment are installed aboard, but are not current operational:
? Sound system operational in the pilothouse
? HRO 600 gallon/per/day watermaker (never has been used by the current owner)
? Short wave radio in pilot house (never used by current owner)
