Descriptions

GROUND TACKLE AND MOORING ARRANGEMENTS

Twin galvanized 350lb Forfjord anchors were mounted bow with a claimed 510' of 2/4" galvanized chain.

A Nordic hydraulic dual capstan windlass with twin gypsies mounted on the foredeck.

A Maxwell 3500 electric vertical capstan windlass are mounted on the aft deck with ½" galvanized chain and a 60lb Bruce stern anchor



PROPULSION

The engine room was accessed via a watertight door and house the main and auxiliary engines, generators, hydraulics, air-conditioning, stabilizers, fuel tanks, batteries and workshop.

The vessel was fitted with a single CAT 3406 diesel engine understood to be 275 hp (5600Hrs).  Cruise fuel consumption 8 gallons per hour. 

Morse controls were cable operated from both helms, the flybridge control. The reversing gearbox is fitted with a conventional shaft drive.

The engine was mounted on flexible engine mountings on steel engine beds. Fresh water cooled with a dry exhaust.

The engine compartment is mechanically ventilated, lined with fire-resistant sound deadening material and protected by a Fireboy Halon-replacement auto fire extinguisher.

A hydraulic motor driven by one of the generators provided power to the auxiliary shaft.

A single bronze 3 bladed fixed prop was fitted on a 4" dia. stainless steel shaft



ELECTRICAL INSTALLATION

The main 12 volt DC battery bank comprised 16 x 6v Trojan deep cycle batteries, recently replaced, plus another 2 x 8D traction batteries for engine starting.

Rotary battery isolator switches were found in the engine compartment; the main electrical panel of circuit breakers is housed in the pilot house.

The vessel was fitted with 110v AC shore power and a 110/220v transformer. 2 x 100A battery chargers and 2 x Heart 110v inverters. 8 x solar panels with a dedicated charger.

Two diesel generators are installed, a John Deere 36kW (5665hrs) providing ships power and a Northern Lights 20 kW (4457hrs) providing power to the auxiliary hydraulic motor. Mountings and exhausts appeared satisfactory.

UNDERWATER HULL AND KEEL & ABOVE WATERLINE

The hull below waterline was of welded steel construction.

The hull was built with a single hard chine with a bulbous bow and rounded stern and full welded keel.

A percussion sounding light sounding revealed no signs of pitting and spot ultrasound thickness measurements indicated that the steel plating, originally 5/16" to the hull and ¼" to the bulb was barely wasted.

The vessel was fitted with twin Naiad stabilizers which were manufactured from a form of nylon composite the copper coat antifouling was adhering well other than where the anchor chains had rubbed on the bulb.

The hull of the vessel above the waterline (the topsides) is 5/6" welded steel plate



RUDDER AND STEERING

The vessel had a single skeg hung spade rudder built from a sold 1" steel sheet. The rudder was top and bottom hung on a full skeg.

Steering was by wheel from the pilot house saloon and flybridge helms and was hydraulically actuated.

The vessel was fitted with a single hydraulic bow thruster.



DECK SUPERSTRUCTURE AND COCKPIT

The deck moulding is of welded steel with teak laid decks.

The vessel is fitted with a welded aluminum superstructure and fly bridge with an aluminum arch for antenna and a crow's nest all finished with a white paint coating still with a good degree of reflectivity.

The cockpit and side decks were protected by substantial bulwarks and drained overboard via scuppers in the side decks. The flybridge also drained overboard.

Steel locking hatches provided access to the chain locker and lazarette and for emergency escape from the fore and aft cabins. 

Welded steel grab rails were found securely mounted.

The laminated glass in the windscreen was understood to be 1" thick with 1/2" glass in the side windows. Window mounts and seals were found in serviceable condition. 

The fore deck contained storage lockers with lockable lids.

The flybridge was accessed internally. The flybridge had a non-skid surface coating and deep and welded aluminum handrails for safety. The fly helm and helm seat were found to be securely mounted. There were solar panels on the roof of the pilot house and the canvas Bimini housed on a stainless-steel frame.

The fly deck provided chocked storage for the tender along with kayaks and other watersports equipment, along with a wet bar and propane barbeque.

On each side of the flybridge were the stainless steel dry exhaust risers housed within steel funnels.

An aluminum arch housed a crow's nest and mountings for the radar arrays, antennae and floodlights

A Hiab hydraulic crane was mounted on the fly deck understood to have a working load of 4000lb's.

Hydraulic booms for flopper stoppers

Boarding gates were installed in the bulwarks port and starboard are on the stern swim platform with swim ladder and side gates were installed amidships in each gunwhale. The gates have a positive means of closure and could be secured at sea.

Tubular steel mooring posts are securely mounted on the bow together with ten hawse fairleads for mooring lines.

A Bauer Junior dive compressor was mounted in a cabinet on the aft deck.

The teak laid foredeck was weathered, the side and aft decks were in better condition.

A stern lazarette contained the steering gear, stern anchor and a disused gasoline storage. 



INTERNAL HULL

The internal hull structure comprised four welded steel bulkheads with steel frames and deck beams supporting the cabin sole.

The saloon and pilot house have watertight doors secured with lever dogs. They are the levers to the access hatch to the flybridge.

The saloon and galley are at deck level with four double cabins and three heads down below, three cabins forward of the machinery compartment with the master suite aft. The pilot house contained a convertible pilot berth and day head. The interior was fitted out to a good standard in cherry with carpeted soles, wallpapered cabins and timber headliners.



UTILITIES

The vessel is fitted with pressurized hot and cold water systems and central air-conditioning. Heating was provided by Valiant diesel fired boiler.

The all-electric galley contained a built-in fridge, hob with separate oven, microwave, ice maker and dishwasher. A Maytag washer dryer was housed in the engine compartment and a substantial built-in freezer was housed in the bilge.

A Sealand watermaker was also installed, claimed 650 gpd capacity.

The integral steel water tanks are forward of the cabins with a claimed capacity of 1520 us gallons.

A black water holding tank was mounted in the bilge forward of the engine compartment



FUEL SYSTEM

Fuel is delivered from four integral steel tanks housed in the engine compartment, believed to hold (5,520 gallons) in total. Delivery tubing is flexible braided fuel hose, Isolation valves are fitted to each tank,

Racor fuel/water separators were fitted between the tanks and the engine and generator, plus a fuel polisher.
