Overview
This Amel 50, Gaia, is now located in Fiji following another successful offshore passage under her new ownership -- a testament to her capability as a true bluewater cruiser.
Since her arrival, Gaia has been further enhanced for extended, self-sufficient cruising. A custom gantry has been installed, providing secure mounting for the OC tender and outboard, while also supporting a substantial 2000W solar array. Paired with a newly upgraded 3,500W inverter, this setup significantly increases onboard energy independence, making her exceptionally well suited for off-grid living and long-distance voyaging.
With an extensive cruising history spanning Europe, South America, and Oceania -- including high-latitude regions such as Iceland and Patagonia, through to the tropics of French Polynesia -- Gaia has proven her ability to handle a wide range of conditions with ease, safety, and comfort.
This 2020 Amel 50 is comprehensively equipped for serious passagemaking. Her Garmin navigation suite includes a touchscreen plotter, radar, sounder, and AIS transceiver, complemented by an Iridium GO satellite communication system. The upgraded lithium battery bank, now supported by the high-capacity solar array and inverter system, ensures reliable and efficient power management wherever your journey takes you.
The Amel 50 rig is designed for simplicity and short-handed sailing, featuring in-mast furling, a self-tacking staysail, and electric winches, with all sail handling led back to the safety of the central cockpit. Full cockpit enclosures further enhance comfort both at sea and at anchor.
Below deck, the light oak interior with custom upholstery creates a bright and welcoming living space. The layout includes a generous aft owner's cabin with ensuite, multiple guest cabins, and a well-equipped galley. Numerous practical upgrades throughout the vessel reflect her serious cruising pedigree.
Powered by a Volvo Penta D3-110 HP engine with hydraulic gearbox, and equipped with a Varifold folding propeller and retractable bow thruster, Gaia offers smooth, efficient performance and excellent manoeuvrability.
Winner of the European Yacht of the Year (Luxury Cruiser category, 2018), the Amel 50 is renowned for combining comfort, safety, and innovation in a highly capable offshore platform.
Now positioned in Fiji and ready for immediate cruising, Gaia presents an outstanding opportunity to step aboard a proven, upgraded bluewater yacht in one of the world's premier cruising regions.
