Remarks
TATOOSH is one of the most luxurious wooden yachts ever commissioned in the Pacific Northwest. Seattle's Vic Franck Boatyard built TATOOSH in 1961 for the Boeing family.
Design-wise her pedigree is impeccable: hull of 2" edge-grain yellow cedar planking by Ben Seaborn (of the famous 26' Thunderbird class) and rigging by New York's Sparkman & Stephens. Her dimensions are ample: 20' beam, 65 ton displacement, 5' freeboard, 8' draft plus another 3' with the centerboard lowered.
Below decks, the layout emphasizes space and comfort: a 20 x 20' main salon, three guest staterooms including two complete heads with hot showers and sinks, crew cabin and aft cabin. The galley, with two teak-edged built-in freezers and 4-burner stove makes provisioning and feeding guests and crew a snap, while also giving capability for a nonstop passage.
- New paint on topsides (2023)
- All seams re-caulked, shaft, bearing prop reconditioned (2022)
- New Underwater lights
- New A/C
Refit October 2021 in San Diego.
- Haul out and completed hull work to reseal, bottom paint and install new sonar, side scanners, anodized plates, depth sounders and underwater lights port and starboard. Main propellor shaft, cutlass bearing and propellor serviced and balanced.
- New Anderson electric winches installed for Main and Mizzen with push button controls on helm for self furling Reckmann Furlers. All main tracks replaced with Antal systems. Completely replaced new rigging for both Main and Mizzen with new digital spreader and navigation equipment including FLIR, Radar and lights.
- Upgraded with new on board systems including new A/C, heaters, De-humidifiers, 32 volt to 24 volt conversion throughout with new electrical panels and battery banks. New B&G navigation system on helm and in main cabin navigation station. Main engine and generator, exhaust system replaced. Installation of new internal cabin lights, UPS and electrical outlets throughout. Extensive cabin, galley, heads and passageway wood work completed to maintain the original classy interior of Tatoosh.
