Just Sold: Boston Whaler 420 Outrage Sold and Shipped to Martinique

July 12, 2025
Earlier this month, Next Generation Yachting had the pleasure of finalizing the international sale of a Boston Whaler 420 Outrage, equipped with quad Mercury 400 Verado engines and a custom fishing tower, to a client in Martinique. This wasn’t just another boat sale—it was a multi-phase international project that highlighted everything we do best: high-end boat brokerage, export logistics, compliance, and global client service.
The story of this deal offers insight into what it takes to purchase a U.S.-built boat and export it to France or the French Caribbean, especially when performance, compliance, and delivery are all non-negotiable.
The 420 Outrage is no ordinary center console—it’s Boston Whaler’s flagship model, known for its offshore capability, fishing features, and top-tier comfort. Our client had been searching for a boat that could handle deep-water fishing off the coast of Martinique, while also offering the luxury, technology, and reliability necessary for family outings around the Windward Islands.
When we introduced our client to this specific 420 Outrage—fully loaded and meticulously maintained—he moved quickly. Within days, the deal was finalized.
Once the sale was secured, we shifted into the next phase: export preparation. Because Martinique is a French overseas department, boats imported there must comply with European Union maritime safety and environmental standards, which means securing CE (Conformité Européenne) certification.
For many buyers, this is where things get complicated—but this is also where Next Generation Yachting truly adds value.
We arranged:
-
A full CE inspection and assessment in Florida
-
Modifications to systems and documentation to meet European compliance
-
Coordination with a Notified Body for proper CE marking
-
Certification of emission, safety, and electrical systems
-
Documentation translation and packaging for French authorities
The goal? A seamless handover the moment the boat touched Martinique soil.
Shipping a vessel like the Boston Whaler 420 Outrage—especially one with a tower and quad engines—isn’t something to be left to general freight companies. We oversaw the entire logistics process from the seller’s dock in Florida to the final delivery point in Martinique.
This included:
-
Tower disassembly and shrink-wrapping
-
Engine and helm protection
-
Overland transport to port
-
Ocean freight booking and loading
-
Customs coordination on both ends
By the time the boat arrived in Martinique, it was ready for reassembly, inspection, and splashdown.
Registration is one of the most common pain points for international buyers of U.S.-built boats. In France and its territories, local maritime authorities require proper CE certification, translated documents, and specific ownership and tax paperwork.
Because of our familiarity with French and EU maritime laws, we assisted the client in:
-
Navigating French customs regulations
-
Preparing all documents for DGMM (Direction Générale de la Mer et des Mers)
-
Securing a French registration number
-
Coordinating insurance with local providers
What could have taken weeks of paperwork and frustration was completed efficiently with no surprises.
This successful deal is a perfect reflection of the type of work we’re passionate about at Next Generation Yachting. We don’t just sell boats—we help clients realize their boating ambitions across borders.
