Cape Dory built 277 CD27's Between 1974 and 1985 at their yard in East Taunton, Massachusetts to Carl Alberg traditional Classic design. He also incorporated some of the traditional lines of the Scandinavian Folk boats from his home land of Sweden into the CD27.
A testament to their seaworthiness, at least one Cape Dory 28 has circumnavigated, in 2009 one in particular completed a three year voyage single handed by it's owner.
