Hull & Appendages

Construction

The hull is of single skin construction built in a female mould using glass/aramid hybrid fibre reinforced vinylester laminate with local carbon fibre reinforcements. Structural bulkheads are of Nomex honeycomb cored carbon fibre epoxy pre-preg construction and laminated to hull and deck. Stiffener flanges are unidirectional carbon lay-ups.

Side-power retractable bowthruster, new in 2016.

Steering Systems

Dual steering gear, sheaves provided with guards to prevent jamming. Lightweight steering quadrant bolted to rudderstock. Two 41" (1.04 m) destroyer type composite wheels, 2.0 turns H.O to H.O. Pedestals with roller bearings and friction brake. Emergency tiller stowed in lazarette.

Deck

Main deck is of carbon fibre pre-preg sandwich construction with Nomex honeycomb core. Laid teak, 12 mm thickness, on side and bridge deck, cockpit sole and seats, glued and vacuum bagged without screws. 

New teak decking fitted in 2011. Flush hatches on deck. Fore deck hatch 80cm x 80cm hinged to open 180 degrees.
