Overview

***NEW LISTING***

Horizon Yacht Sales is pleased to present this stunning 2020 Lagoon 42 'Arctic Fantasy'

Well-constructed and beautifully finished purposeful, the Lagoon 42 Catamaran has all the elements of a great cruising catamaran. In 2017 she won Sail Magazine's Best Multihull between 41 and 50 feet. In the same year scooped Cruising World's Boat of the Year in the multi-hull 41-50 feet category and is quickly becoming a staple for the average cruiser.

ACCESSIBILITY AND OPERATION

At the helm, all the Yanmar engine controls and the B&G instrumentation are ergonomically laid out and the sail controls are easily accessible.  There is plenty of room for two people and the design makes sailing this boat shorthanded a joy. The power winch on the coach roof is perfect for hoisting the mainsail. It also comes in useful when operating the dinghy davit. Access up-to-the boom is via a couple of steps, the boom itself is low and makes stowing the mainsail and zipping the stack-pack straightforward.

Having the raised helm neatly integrated with the cockpit makes communication up to and down easily. This means the helm has great visibility - forward and importantly aft - so this is especially useful if docking stern-to. The composite bimini has sliding hatches, making seeing aloft and setting sails simple. Roll-down clear screens are available for protection should the weather not be cooperative.

 PERFORMANCE UNDER SAIL AND POWER

Under sail, the Lagoon 42 Catamaran feels balanced. The sixty-seven-foot mast is set slightly further aft than on previous models, reducing pitching and as a result, allowing for a self-tacking genoa set on a curved genoa track. The two jib and the main work well together and off-wind delivered over 8 knots average in 17-19 knots true in a slight chop.  With a gennaker or spinnaker, the Lagoon 42 will deliver mid-teens performance in the right conditions.

Under power with the upgraded Yanmar 57HP, You can expect 8 knots at 2600rpm in fairly smooth water.

 LIVING SPACE

The sliding door to the saloon opens wide and connects the cockpit with the saloon on one level. The U-shaped galley has a three-burner stove, extensive workspace, and storage.  Fridge, freezer, and microwave are all neatly integrated. The central chrome-covered mast support provides a great hand-hold when on the move. Moreover, it also allows for a large forward lounge area with plenty of seating. The high vertical saloon windows provide great light and panoramic views and plenty of headroom. Two opening windows forward give generous ventilation at anchor.

In the Lagoon 42's hulls, the Italian Nauta Design delivers elegance and functionality. The large, fixed hull windows provide wonderful light, and opening portlights add ventilation. The cabins have double island-style beds and the en-suite heads offer electric saltwater electric flush heads and a separate shower area with side access.

The owner has the added benefit of making a return on their investment because Arctic Fantasy is currently in Horizon Yacht Charter's prestigious charter fleet in the British Virgin Islands.

Descriptions

Manufacturer Provided Description

A SLEEK, MODERN DESIGN.
This new member of the Lagoon family has style and a strong personality.
While keeping a family resemblance and retaining the main features of the latest generation of Lagoons, it shows us a new path: unhurried evolution, a new "organic" approach, in search of harmony between living space and man.
An elegant silhouette, flowing curves which, by virtue of a noticeable acceleration of the lines in the bows and in the new coachroof design, emphasise the powerful and dynamic nature of this new model... A VPLP design naturally, a guarantee of performance under sail!

A COSY COCKPIT, WITH SMOOTH, ELEGANT CURVES
- a single level from the aft platform to the saloon: a structural "revolution",
- entirely new ergonomics that ensure excellent use of space and ease of circulation on board,
- a large glazed door that occupies the entire width of the coachroof, and provides access to the unparalleled internal volumes.
- The suspended steps at the transom provide a whole new perception of the boat: a continuous, wide and inviting platform, worthy of a large vessel.

AN INGENIOUS DECK LAYOUT
The mast moved further aft and the self-tacking jib, a guarantee of performance under sail and ease of handling, provide the ability to bring all operations together in one place.

AN ERGONOMIC HELMING STATION
At the coachroof bulkhead, offering many advantages:direct communication between the cockpit and saloon, improved circulation, forward and aft of the helming station, direct access to the coachroof for easier access to the boom, a composite bimini with a sliding panel to ensure a good view of the sails, a closure panel or helming station safety when under way.

ACCOMODATIONS
3 or 4 double cabins ... and what cabins! Island double beds for the aft cabins and beds with side access for the forward cabins, the aft cabins benefit from a bathroom with a separate shower, very large windows in the cabins offer excellent illumination and magnificent views of the surroundings, the vertical glazing in the coachroof provides saloon illumination: a well-lit, comfortable environment that is perfectly balanced between the galley and saloon areas, the U-shaped galley, fully fitted with broad work surfaces and extensive storage space, is oriented towards the external cockpit.
The attention devoted to detail and the use of the volumes make this new interior a unique and enjoyable living space.
